Demand for Relief Food on the Rise in Hoima as MP Nyakato Offers Support to Vulnerable Communities

Hoima Oil City woman legislator Asinansi Nyakato on Sunday launched the distribution of Covid-19 relief food and hand washing facilities to the elderly, journalists, PWDs, drivers, Boda boda cyclists, car washers among others.

Nyakato who is also the Opposition shadow minister for the Oil and Gas says she has decided to procure relief aid to the vulnerable and most needy communities in the city as part of her 10 percent of the sh200 million donated to her to procure a vehicle.

She launched the exercise in Bulera East village where she expressed concern over the demand of food aid by town dwellers who were badly affected by the lockdown. The items included 20 tons of maize flour, 10,000 branded masks, 1000 jerycans of liquid soap and other hand washing facilities.

Nyakato says majority of the people in town missed on the government covid19 relief cash of sh100,000 hence she decided to intervene in filling the gap. She wants government to introduce a tax holiday for town dwellers.
