Churches reopened on Sunday after almost four months of closure, with a call to Christians to embrace the vaccination and return to God.
On Wednesday last week, President Museveni reopened places of worship with only 200 congregants observing all the Standard Operating Procedures- SOPs. The places of worship were closed in June following a surge in the number of covid-19 cases.
Most of the churches adhered to the SOPs that included the wearing of masks, availing handwashing stations as well as maintaining social distance.
While preaching at St Peter’s Cathedral in Hoima City, the Bishop of Bunyoro Kitara Diocese Rt. Rev. Samuel Kakuma said the Covid-19 pandemic has affected millions of people adding that many had lost their jobs.
Amon Zondera, the leader of laity at Our Lady of Lourdes Bujumbura Cathedral says they have fully participated in the mass physically while following the standard operating procedures and requests Christians to comply positively with the Covid-19 vaccination.
Meanwhile, David Kaliisa, the lead Pastor at Christ the Way church articulates that he feels very happy and appreciates the president for considering opening of the churches adding that the devil has been defeated.
